Mosie
Lister
became
interested
in
writing
at
an
early
age,
influenced
by
his
parents
who
sang
in
the
church
choir.
They
attempted
to
teach
Mosie
to
sing
but
discovered
that
he
was
tone
deaf.
He
began
to
study
the
violin
in
the
eighth
grade
and
this
aided
his
ability
to
distinguish
pitches,
and
by
the
age
of
17
he
was
studying
harmony
and
composition,
his
tone
deafness
having
disappeared...After
a
tour
with
the
Navy
in
World
War
II,
in
which
he
studied
engineering
under
the
V-12
program
at
Rensselaer

Institute,
Lister
entered
Middle
Georgia
College
where
he
majored
in
English,
studied
harmony,
counterpoint
and
arranging
for
piano
and
organ...His
first
serious
writing
was
done
for
gospel
groups
that
sang
in

in
the

In
1948
the
Statesmen
employed
Mosie
as
an
arranger,
and
in
this
capacity
he
introduced
a
number
of
new
sounds
to
gospel
quartet
singing,
including
the
harmony
which
is
used
extensively
today...Mosie
Lister's
most-used
songs
include
the
following
titles:
"How
Long
Has
It
Been?"
"Then
I
Met
The
Master,"
"Where
No
One
Stands

"'Til

Mosie=Moses means Out Of The Water
Gender: Masculine
Usage: English, Biblical
Pronounced: MOZ-es
The boy's name Moses is pronounced MOH-ziz. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "saviour." Also possibly (Hebrew) "drawn out of the water." Biblical: name of the Hebrew infant pulled out of the River Nile and adopted by the Egyptian Pharoah's daughter. Moses later became the great leader of the exiled Israelites. Moses ben Maimon (12th century), also known as Maimonides, was a Jewish scholar born in Moorish Spain. He was the court physician of Saladin, the Sultan of Egypt, and was famous for his writings (in both Hebrew and Arabic) on logic, mathematics, medicine, law and Jewish theology. The name Moses was adopted by the Puritans in the 17th century, and is popular in Jewish families. Moss is an English medieval form of Moses. Moises (moh-EE-says) is a Spanish form; Moshe is Hebrew. Mosiah probably is a blend of Moses and Josiah. Israeli defense minister Moshe Dayan. Moses has 15 variant forms: Mioshe, Mioshye, Mo, Moe, Moise, Moises, Mose, Moshe, Mosheh, Mosiah, Mosie, Mosie, Moss, Moyses and Mozes.
